ORANGE-BOURBON
COCKTAIL FRANKS
Ingredients
2 lb. Cocktail wieners
1/2 c. Green bell pepper, diced
1 medium Shallot, chopped
2 tbsp. Olive oil
2 c. Orange juice (any type)
2 tbsp. Orange marmalade
1/2 c. Dark brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. Kentucky bourbon
1 tsp. Frank’s® Hot Sauce
a pinch Pepperoncino
1 tsp. Lemon juice (bottled is fine)
Directions
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Sautée the peppers and shallots in the oil until softened, 4-5 minutes.
Add the orange and lemon juices, marmalade, brown sugar, bourbon and Frank’s®, pepperoncino, and stir to combine.
Increase the heat a bit, and bring to a simmer.
Meanwhile, place the cocktail wieners in the bottom of a slow cooker (at least 4 quart size).
Simmer the sauce until reduced by about 1/3, 8-10 minutes.
Pour the sauce over the cocktail wieners, stir to coat evenly, and set the slow cooker to high.
Heat until steaming, then switch to “keep warm” (or the lowest setting possible), and serve with toothpicks.
A spicy twist on the cocktail party favorite (especially around the holidays), that is a delightful upgrade from the usual hors d’ouevres.
