ORANGE-BOURBON

COCKTAIL FRANKS



Ingredients

2 lb. Cocktail wieners

1/2 c. Green bell pepper, diced

1 medium Shallot, chopped

2 tbsp. Olive oil

2 c. Orange juice (any type)

2 tbsp. Orange marmalade

1/2 c. Dark brown sugar, packed

1/2 c. Kentucky bourbon

1 tsp. Frank’s® Hot Sauce

a pinch Pepperoncino

1 tsp. Lemon juice (bottled is fine)

Directions

  • Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Sautée the peppers and shallots in the oil until softened, 4-5 minutes.

  • Add the orange and lemon juices, marmalade, brown sugar, bourbon and Frank’s®, pepperoncino, and stir to combine.

  • Increase the heat a bit, and bring to a simmer.

  • Meanwhile, place the cocktail wieners in the bottom of a slow cooker (at least 4 quart size).

  • Simmer the sauce until reduced by about 1/3, 8-10 minutes.

  • Pour the sauce over the cocktail wieners, stir to coat evenly, and set the slow cooker to high.

  • Heat until steaming, then switch to “keep warm” (or the lowest setting possible), and serve with toothpicks.


A spicy twist on the cocktail party favorite (especially around the holidays), that is a delightful upgrade from the usual hors d’ouevres.
