GLAZED HAM
Ingredients
1 Boneless cured/smoked ham (1/4 lb per person)
1 jar La Choy Sweet 'n Sour Sauce
1/2 c. Pineapple juice
2 tbsp. Corn starch, dissolved in 3-4 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. Fresh ground nutmeg
14.5 oz. can Chunk pineapple, on toothpicks
1 Small jar of maraschino cherries on toothpicks
Parsley sprigs
Directions
• Preheat oven to 350F
• Place ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Put about 1/2" of water in the bottom of the pan.
• In a medium saucepan, mix together sweet 'n sour sauce, pineapple juice, and nutmeg.
• Heat to simmering, the add dissolved cornstarch one teaspoon at a time, until sauce begins to thicken. Keep stirring or lumps will form!
• Continue simmering while stirring, adding more corn starch as needed, until sauce almost becomes a paste.
• Remove from heat, and immediate brush glaze all over ham.
• Garnish ham with pineapple chunks and cherries.
• Bake ham - uncovered - until meat thermometer reads 150F at center.
• Remove ham and let rest 15 minutes, tented with foil.
• Remove cherries and pineapple chunks.
• Slice as desired, and place on serving platter, garnished with cherries, pineapple and parsley sprigs.
HINT: Soak toothpicks in water overnight so they will not burn.
This ridiculously uncomplicated glazed ham is perfect for festive occasions and holidays, particularly Christmas and Easter.
