SOUR CREAM COOKIES
Ingredients
2-3⁄4 c. All-purpose unbleached flour, sifted
1 1⁄2 tsp. Baking powder
1⁄2 tsp. Baking soda
1⁄2 tsp. Kosher salt
1⁄4 tsp. Ground nutmeg
1/2 c. Unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 c. Lard, at room temperature
1-1⁄2 c. Granulated sugar
1 Large egg
1/2 tbsp. Lemon zest
1 c. Sour cream
1 tsp. Almond extract
• Preheat oven to 375°F.
• Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg; set aside.
• In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter, lard, and 1-1/2 cups sugar at medium speed until light and fluffy.
• Add the egg and beat well.
• Blend in sour cream, lemon zest, and almond extract.
• Gradually add (1/2 cup at a time) dry ingredients into creamed mixture, blending well.
• Sprinkle each with sugar.
• Bake for 8 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
• Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks.
